New York Day 2 by Charmaine

Last night was our 2nd night in the hotel. This morning we went on a bus to get to Times Square. Isaiah likes busses because he does not have to be buckled up. We went on the tour bus again. We saw the Empire State building and Chinatown. Then we went for a walk to have lunch. I ate all my food up and Isabelle never ate hers up. We were going to go see the Statue of Liberty but we didn’t because we couldn’t get tickets. Then we went back to the hotel to swim because it was hot out. Then we went for supper at a Mexican restaurant. I love Mexican food. By Charmaine

New York Day 1 by Charmaine

On July 18th we left the hotel and drove to Staten Island, NYC. Then we took a ferry to Manhattan. The ferry was orange. We rode on the ferry past the Statue of Liberty. That was everyone’s first time seeing the Statue of Liberty and being in New York City. Then after that we went on the subway. The subway was the same as Ontario’s. Then we bought the tickets for the hop on hop off bus. Then we went to this awesome Hard Rock café. We made reservations there. After that we went for a walk around Times Square. I brought a shirt for my friend. Then we went back to the Hard Rock and we found out that they took our name off the list. Then Claire got us in because she was mad. After lunch, we went on the hop on hop off bus. It took us 3 hours. On the bus tour, we saw a 3 block long museum and Central Park, the building where John Lennon was shot, and we saw the largest cathedral in the world. When we got off, I brought 7 shirts for 11 dollars. Then we went back to the subway. I like riding on the subway. New York is the best part of the trip so far. By Charmaine

Lobster Sandwich by Charmaine

Yesterday was the 16th of July. We heard of a sandwich on the radio and it had lobster in it and lettuce and tomatoes and olives. It sounded good on the radio. Then we got to the store where they make the sandwich. Everyone shared. Thank goodness we did because it tasted gross, all that lobster. I can’t believe Claire ate hers at once. We had to eat all the lobster up because Dan and Claire made us. Now I don’t like lobster. Yuk! But I ordered it so I had to eat it. I’m never doing that again! Charmaine

Halifax by Charmaine

Today we went to Halifax. First we had fish ‘n chips. They were so good. After that, we went to the museum. There was a parrot. He was so colourful. The bird’s name was Merlin. He was the newest member of the museum. He said “pretty bird”. It was funny. Then we went to the Titanic exhibit. It was so cool because I like the movie Titanic. Then we went on a ferry. It was fun because we went on top and watched how fast we were going. Not that fast though. After that we went to Peggy’s Cove. There were lots of rocks and if they were black it was dangerous. There were huge waves. Every year a tourist drowns. By Charmaine

The Musical by Charmaine

Today, July 11, we went Anne and Gilbert the musical. The reason why we went to Anne and Gilbert was because we love Anne of Green Gables. My favourite thing in part 1 was that Anne kissed Gilbert then she slapped Gilbert and said, “How dare you!” Then he was happy but then he said, “How dare I?!?” It was an awesome show because Anne and Gilbert finally are going to get married. Anne had 3 marriage proposals I can’t believe it. By Charmaine

The Musical by Isablle

Today, July 11, we went to the musical Anne of and Gilbert. It was funny when Anne kissed Gilbert and was like “How dare you!” and Gilbert started to sing then he was like “how dare me?” My other favourite part was the end because Gilbert and Anne kissed for real. I have a lot of favourite parts. I will tell you some more, like when this one girl that was really rich fell in love with a fiddler. Then we went back to our cabin. I love Anne of Green Gables. By Isabelle of Green Gables

Green Gables by Charmaine

On Saturday we packed all of our stuff up like the tent. Then we went to see the author of Anne of Green Gables' house. Then we went for lunch. We had pizza. Then we went to see Green Gables. We had raspberry cordial. I love raspberry cordial. Then we went for lobster. I only like the tail and claw. We also had salads and mussels. I didn’t like the mussels so much. Then we went to another campsite. It was full because Taylor Swift was in town so then we camped in a person‘s back yard. Then it rained all night. By Charmaine

Green Gables by Isabelle

Today we went to see Green Gables the house that inspired the book not the one used in the movie. It was so cool because there is this lane called Lovers Lane. Before that we got stuck in traffic because Taylor Swift was in town so it took a long time to get to get to the house. When we got there we had raspberry cordial. Then we went to a restaurant that served lobster suppers. So me and Charmaine named our lobsters. I named my lobster Billy Bob and Charmaine named hers Bob. After supper we went to this campsite and it was full so the people who lived there let us camp in their back yard. It was cool camping in their back yard. By Isabelle

Water Slides by Charmaine

On July 7 we went to the funnest water park. There was a very steep slide that you go down on a carpet. The first time Isabelle went down it. I was so scared when I went down it. There was a fun water park where there was lots of stuff. My favourite water slide was the castle one where you go through tunnels and lots of pools. It was scary at first though. We had to check in sometimes so Dan and Claire knew where we were. Then we had a lunch of peanut butter sandwiches those were so good. Then Claire came with us on the wave pool and the Amazon it is where you go in a circle. Then Claire grabbed a rope. She didn’t know what will happen and she got a bucket of water on her head. It was so funny. Then Isabelle and Dan went on the castle one. I couldn‘t go on because you needed 2 people. I also went on lots of other ones too. I had an awesome day today. Charmaine

Water Slides by Isabelle

On July 7th. we went swimming at some big water slides in Valcartier, Quebec. But, we didn’t go swimming when we first got there because it was dark and the water slides were closed. The next day we got our bracelets and walked from our campsite to the water slides. It was burning hot. We put on lots of sunscreen. One of my favourite slides was Everest. At first it was scary when I saw it because it looked very steep. But then Charmaine said “ I dare you to go down that slide then you don’t owe me my two dollars’’. So I went down the slide and it was so fun. We also went to more slides like Rock n Roll and this one that is in a castle. I went with Dan on that one. Claire went on a slide with me and Charmaine. It is called Amazon. Claire pulled this rope that was connected to a bucket full of water and it got in her eyes. I love water slides. By Isabelle

Family Reunion by Charmaine

From July 2 to the 4 we were at a family reunion in Sherbrooke, Quebec. There were 18 adults and 7 kids. We went to the family reunion because we all wanted to get together. Mostly everyone drove and some people took an airplane

On the second day we went shopping with Auntie Don. She is the second best auntie. I had a fun morning. In the afternoon we went swimming. It was very super hot and the pool was very cold. Auntie Don threw 6 dollars and 6 cents in the pool and we had to dive to go get it. It was fun!

On the 3rd day I learned how to play cribbage. I played Jamie and I won. Then I played Isabelle and I won. Then I played three more people.

On Sunday we were on supper duty. We made Grandpa Wayne’s hot wings. They were super hot and we also had bread, vegetables and two roasts. It was hard to cook that.
Then we also played with lots of Sheila’s school toys. She had a giant yo-yo that was really fun to play with. Then we had a camp fire and we sang songs. I had a fun weekend. By Charmaine

Ottawa by Charmaine

Today we woke up and got ready to go to Ottawa. First we toured the parliament buildings. My favourite part was the library because it was quiet in there. Then we went to the mall to buy the tickets to see Eclipse. Then we had supper at the food court. The movie started at 6:45pm. It was awesome because the new born was fighting the Cullens. The bad news is that Jacob got hurt. I love Twilight. By Charmaine

Then we went to see stray cats at the Parliament buildings. So then we went on a tour. The best part of the tour was the Senate because it was red. In the back, there were three chairs that were big and pretty. Then we went to the mall and saw Eclipse I liked Eclipse because the Cullens and the wolves got in a fight with the newborns. Then we went back to the campsite and went to bed. By Isabelle

June 27
Today we went to the beach. It was called Sandbanks. I like the name Sandbanks because I like sand and money comes from banks. We played mermaids. Isabelle was the human and I was the mermaid. The beach was so sandy and cold. I am glad it was not chlorinated water because I don’t like it because it burns my eyes

McDonalds by Isabelle

Today is June 29 and I we went to Mcdonalds for lunch. But before that me, Charmaine, Emily, Isaiah and Claire went to the park. I accidentally put Isaiah down the slide on his bum when you are supposed to put him down on his belly. He just about fell off the slide. He banged his lip and it started to bleed. I felt very bad that he got hurt. At McDonalds I got a Big Mac and a strawberry milkshake. Then we went to get Charmaine, Isaiah and Claire at a sushi restaurant. They had dessert and me and Dan didn’t, so we are going to have dessert later. I love McDonalds. By Isabelle

I only know some of their names like Lily, George and Maggie. I don’t know the baby’s name because she wasn’t doing that much stuff. At the end we got to pet the elephants. They were hairy. Oh yeah we met Dan and Claire’s friends Bill and Jen. They are very nice and we had a barbeque at their house. It was fun. They let me and Chamaine play on their hammock. Oh, and I saw an eagle at the safari park. It was so cool. I hope we can see Jen and Bill again and go to the African lion safari.

CN Tower by Charmaine

June 23
Today went to the science center. We went to the play area but you had to be 8 and under. We were lucky that we had Emily and Isaiah because we almost got in trouble. Then we went to the CNT short for the CN Tower and had supper. I had chicken fingers and fries. We watched a base ball game in the sky dome from up above, CNT was so high I am lucky that I am not afraid of heights I thought that I would be scared. Then we went on this glass floor and we took pictures of us because it was so far down. I had a fun day

We went to the market and we saw a whale on the roof but it was fake. Then on our way we saw a clown making balloons. Charmaine is scared of clowns. The yurt by Charmaine

June 18, 2010
Today we went on a family vacation. We drove 3.5 hours. When we got to the camp grounds we slept in a yurt. The yurt had lots of wood stuff in it like the bunk beds. In the morning we had a shower then we went back to the yurt and had breakfast. We had cereal and yogurt. Then we watched Emily and Isaiah. Isaiah kept on crying because he wanted his mom. We had a fun night.

The yurt by Isabelle

June 18 2010
It is June 18 and guess what I am writing about? Yesterday night it was crazy because Isaiah was crying when I was trying to go to sleep. But, the best part is when I slept in a yurt. It was fun. The yurt is circular and like a tent. It doesn’t have any solid walls just canvas like a tent. But, a yurt is bigger than a tent. There was a bunk bed and a couch that unfolds like a bed. I slept with Emily. In my sleeping bag, it was warm.

Emily Winks

Now that Charmaine and Isabelle have gone back to Fort Qu'appelle, Emily, Isaiah and Claire have agreed to keep up the blog. Today Emily was midway through a bowl of spaghetti when she decided she was hot. "I hot!" So she took off her sweater, then her shirt, then her pants. "Toes hot!" Then her socks. Down to her underwear, she finished her spaghetti. Then she pointed at her pile of clothes. "Clothes on!" and she started to put her clothes back on. Her shirt ended up inside out and backwards and her pants were also backwards. But she dressed herself. Then she winked.

Today I started to learn how to play the piano. I'm learning to play the song A Whole New World from the movie Aladdin. The song sounds good because Aladdin is one of my favorite movies. Claire helps me play the song because I don't know what to do. I have half of the song to play still. I love playing the piano.

When Isaiah Was Born by Charmaine

My cousin Isaiah was born last spring. When me and Isabelle were in science camp Claire went into labour. She waited at home and she was feeling lonesome for Emily. Before Claire went into labour Dan took pictures of Emily and Claire. So Dan hung pictures all over the house. The next day we waited until noon time and we all went to the hospital. We let Claire's mom go see Isaiah and then mommy went and then Isabelle and I got to go see him. We all got to see Isaiah after he was born. They came home on Thursday and we had to be quiet.
